MINI Clubvan Concept

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIFc42yUJBT-PjklwU6kHa-sQ1vECLSwt6Z7U3a8ifWhZseGR43U7lU9b-OQSGsKwQzSaOAJE-OjEKAIRmdAg6aOS1XGmhoOK_LAyHxDakrE1nt_MtmIC2LWCuuBueCR9N9peTPDpbePg/s1600/Mini-Clubvan-3%255B2%255D.jpg

Mini has releases photos and details for the Clubvan concept, which will debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Three variants will be offered with three different engine options: the Mini One Clubvan with the basic 72kW/153Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine, the more powerful 90kW/160Nm Mini Cooper Clubvan, and the Mini Cooper D Clubvan, which gets the 82kW/270Nm 1.6-litre diesel engine and promises combined cycle fuel economy of just 3.9 litres per 100km.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard in all three models while the MINI Cooper D Clubvan can be had with a six-speed automatic as an option. The Clubvan model will launch with four paint shades: Pepper White, Ice Blue, British Racing Green metallic, and Midnight Black metallic. Standard wheels are in a 15-inch sizing, but buyers can choose from larger 16- and 17-inch upgrades.

The dimensions of the Clubvan are identical to the 3961mm long, 1683mm wide and 1426mm high Clubman. It is the seventh member of the current Mini line-up but the first new-generation Mini to be classified as a commercial vehicle, meaning business buyers can claim back VAT.

Press Release

More space for style: The MINI Clubvan Concept. Compact lifestyle van for business and leisure – First concept of its kind in the premium segment – World premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show 2012.

Munich/Geneva. Stand-out-from-the-crowd style can also be amazingly practical – and practicality surprisingly attractive. The MINI Clubvan Concept brings apparently conflicting profiles together into a single package, paving the way for an innovative vehicle concept without parallel in the premium small car segment. The MINI Clubman-based concept car, scheduled for its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show 2012, combines the driving fun for which MINI is renowned with increased load-carrying capability. The MINI experience will therefore find its way into new areas of life, the brand’s distinctive character gaining new popularity among target groups not previously on the MINI radar.

The closed-off load area behind the front seats and the opaque rear side windows of the new concept set it apart most strikingly from the MINI Clubman. The MINI Clubvan Concept uses its broader skill-set to open up new usage possibilities – both business and leisure. Where a business’s customers, product range and operating environment demand a particular style for its vehicles, a premium model can make the perfect delivery solution. For example, a car in the mould of the MINI Clubvan Concept would fit excellently into the fleet of a fashion designer, art gallery owner or event caterer. And its abilities as an all-rounder also tick the right boxes for a photographer with a stack of camera, tripod and lighting equipment to ferry around during the week – and bulky sports and leisure gear to pile on board at the weekend.

The MINI Clubvan Concept pulls off the trick of blending enhanced practicality and a well-judged lifestyle focus with natural ease. This ability is based on the impressive adaptability that goes to the heart of the MINI brand’s heritage. Calls for maximising the load capacity of the classic Mini began as early as 1960, just a year after the car’s birth. And they were soon heeded. With its 10-centimetre-longer wheelbase, separate load compartment and split rear doors, the Morris Mini Van was perfectly equipped for commercial use. It also provided the basis for the fully glazed, four-seat Morris Mini Traveller, one of the precursors of today’s successful MINI Clubman. And so, more than 50 years on, the MINI Clubvan Concept sees history repeating itself – albeit in a slightly different order.

Two seats, five doors, endless usage potential.

Limiting the car to two seats creates the capacity its owners will need on a day-to-day basis, as well as opening up a whole new world of customisation potential. The load compartment of the MINI Clubvan Concept embodies the car’s fresh and rigorous interpretation of the principle used in the classic Mini – of providing the maximum amount of interior space on the smallest possible footprint. The load area reaches from the split rear doors right up to the partition grille behind the two seats. The totally level floor makes full use of the interior’s depth, and that allows the concept car’s load capacity to exceed the maximum achieved by the MINI Clubman.

Six attachment loops recessed into the load compartment floor use elasticated straps to hold items of varying lengths, heights and widths in place – without the risk of them sliding around. Added to which, the partition grille, which is fixed securely to the car body, ensures that items stowed in the load compartment cannot find their way into the front seats, even under extremely heavy braking. The lower section of the partition is made from solid aluminium, while the upper section consists of a silver-coloured stainless steel honeycomb grating. The side walls and floor of the load compartment are trimmed in high-quality anthracite-coloured cloth. The anthracite roof liner, meanwhile, extends along the full length of the interior. This uniform colour scheme emphasises the pure-bred, practicality-oriented character of the MINI Clubvan Concept.

Like the MINI Clubman, the MINI Clubvan Concept is a five-door car with a twist. Two front doors for the driver and front passenger, two side-hinged doors at the rear and the rear-hinged Clubdoor on the right-hand side create comfortable access to the interior. The Clubdoor gives owners the option of loading or unloading smaller items from the side of the car as well as the rear.

The generous levels of space on board the concept car can be exploited in a variety of ways. Commercial users will be particularly pleased to discover the scope for configuring the load compartment to personal requirements. For example, tools and goods can be stored neatly and securely in made-to-measure drawers or shelving units. 12-volt plug sockets in the rear area of the load compartment provide additional practicality.

Exterior design: shields from prying eyes, cuts a distinctive figure.

Impressive practicality and the brand’s time-honoured style lend the MINI Clubvan Concept its unmistakable character. Sharing the exterior dimensions of the MINI Clubman and boasting cleverly increased storage capacity, the concept car is the first premium model in the small car-based van segment. The exterior appearance of the MINI Clubvan Concept marks it out immediately as a MINI – and therefore as a premium product. The function-led design modifications have no impact on the car’s proportions and hallmark MINI design language, but they do give customers the opportunity to combine the demands of commercial use with an appreciation of individual style.

The MINI Clubvan Concept comes with British Racing Green exterior paintwork, which extends to the roof, C-pillars and exterior mirror caps. As is usual for vehicles charged with transportation tasks, the rear side windows of the MINI Clubvan Concept are opaque. Polycarbonate sections – their outer surfaces painted in the car’s body colour – and heavily tinted glass for the rear doors make it difficult to see into the load compartment.

The unbroken paintwork along the car’s flanks offers extensive scope for individualisation, which the MINI Clubvan Concept highlights to eye-catching effect. The sealed side windows bear the logo of a sign design company based in the MINI’s native Great Britain. The hand-applied graphics lend the vehicle a personal look. Indeed, the ultra-versatile MINI carries both its cargo and the company’s promotional message with a uniquely stylish verve. The MINI Clubvan Concept presented in Geneva lends this form of customisation a piquant authenticity – on two fronts. The British company that has literally left its stamp on the MINI Clubvan Concept creates similar vehicle graphics for its customers. And the MINI Clubvan Concept showcases how these might look when applied to a MINI van.

BT Design ETAPE concept

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRHZV3QYuxd5h2eAiWxqspZQBAvbdj-jgk80noJxS0rHwUfDfyvR5k3_bdFx6FnRfb5OZzQUlXzikXtpS-i0oG5rVM1fGL-qLgsSnlFjq01RtWkq1J_-5sC-VW3KoauGUYHvG8tfxt3zM/s1600/BT-Design-ETAPE-1.jpg

BT Design has unveiled a new Skoda concept at the 2012 Auto Mobil International Show (AMI) in Leipzig, Germany. The ETAPE Concept, as it is known, is a sporty pick-up truck based on the Czech crossover which is quite a sight in real life. The ETAPE Concept features plenty of changes from its four-door crossover cousin.

Though the ETAPE is based on the production version Skoda Yeti, the Pickup concept has been given a complete overhaul with two doors, a wide body kit, a flatbed in the back and a new cabin. The concept also dons a new front and rear fascia, new side skirts, flared wheel arches housing larger alloy wheels wrapped in low profile tyres and redesigned interiors. The only aspect that is left unchanged is the car's bonnet.

Press Release

The concept of ETAPE cannot be ignored

Benet Automotive works closely with the car manufacturer Skoda Auto a.s., so it is no coincidence that BA chose Skoda Yeti model to show example customization, which is very effectively adapted to its own open concept ETAPE. They want to demonstrate on Yeti the possibilities of starting their own design proposal, from major structural modifications to precise work of modelers in the development workshop. Cycle theme of exhibition commemorates the long-term commitment of Skoda Auto in this sports sector. Last but not least, there is the analogy of everlasting efforts of the motorists to escape from the ‚peloton‘ of serial production towards individuality.

The trend confirms that individuality is desired goods on the road

Customers of BT brand are individuals who desire uniqueness as well as companies which use modified cars with unique design to promote their own products and services. As currently displayed concept ETAPE shows, the possibilies are virtually endless. Ambition of BT brand, however, reaches even further, which is clearly illustrated by the words of Josef Zajicek, managing director and mastermind of the project: ‘We want to inspire individuals and the whole industry. Our aim is to provoke even greater demand for individualization of cars from both end user and manufacturers. At the same time we want to present the possibility of building a completely unique promotional vehicles to order to various companies. Here at Benet Automotive we have enough creativity as well as technical support needed for implementation.‘

Invention is not improvisation

On the exhibition piece ETAP, only front bonnet remains from the original body parts of Yeti. Reinforcing of the structure was solved with the help of modern computer technology. In addition to designers and engineers have also come into play other professions, like people working on car body, modelers, painters, uphosterers and many others.

SEAT Ibiza CUPRA concept

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMOAjoDe2BvvvSEvUeBSmiFQktrvcQj5_U_I9pLYgfl5y3FxipeRazdTTrDH7EQupYLTtXl3xj6TqlveLT9h4jhg_RwvGZY6wtuJOmj8nQGKIpc8MEzMjBm2GRrBGDSVGM3l-fdlzrE3Q/s1600/seatibiza01.jpg

SEAT officially unveiled the “Ibiza Cupra Concept” at the China Auto 2012 in Beijing.

Outside there's a set of LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights and bi-xenon headlamps. You also get 17-inch wheels, gloss black mirrors and slightly beefed-up styling about the bumpers.

Ibiza Cupra’s firepower comes from a 1.4 litre TSI, the same you’ll find in the Polo GTI, Audi A1 and Skoda Fabia VRS. The direct-injection, twin charged engine produces 180 PS and 250 Nm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed DSG with paddle shifters. Ibiza Cupra also gets the XDS electronic differential lock and high-performance brakes.

One of the most important differences between the standard Ibiza and the Cupra model is not visible to the naked eye. The Cupra rides on a track-tuned Cupra chassis, which provides a sportier driving experience.

Inside there's a new entertainment system which works with the portable sat-nav system like the one in the Seat Mii and VW Up. You can simply unclip the five-inch nav unit and take it with you while you finish your journey on foot. This will soon be offered across the whole Ibiza family, says Seat.

Press Release

SEAT Ibiza Cupra Concept world debut in Beijing

  • New, powerful design
  • Muscular performance, innovative technology
  • Exclusive equipment, even better quality
Just days after it went on sale in the UK SEAT is taking the already sporty design of the New Ibiza up another notch, with the world debut of the Cupra Concept at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
SEAT is presenting the Ibiza Cupra Concept as a close-to-production concept car. Even more clearly than before, the Ibiza Cupra Concept shows the SEAT DNA in its most concentrated form - vigorous performance, the latest technology and comprehensive equipment clad in an emotional design. With its compact dimensions, the Ibiza Cupra Concept is a sports car for everyday use, combining agile driving fun with a high degree of functionality. The production version of the new Ibiza Cupra Concept will arrive towards the end of the year.

The Ibiza Cupra Concept is fitted with SEAT's award-winning 1.4-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine, featuring direct injection and both a turbocharger and a supercharger. It produces a maximum power output of 180 PS, transmitted to the front wheels via a highly-sophisticated seven-speed DSG transmission with shift paddles. Other highlights include XDS electronic differential lock, high-performance brakes and an optional SEAT Portable System that combines navigation and entertainment functions and is removable for mobile use.

'With its new, powerfully accentuated design, its innovative technologies, upgraded interior and further improved quality, the new Ibiza Cupra Concept clearly shows how our brand is continuing to develop,' says James Muir, President of SEAT, S.A. 'Emotional design and refined dynamics guarantee driving fun on every single kilometre. We are presenting the Ibiza Cupra Concept at the Beijing Motor Show because this compact athlete will be an important element in the development of our brand in this key market.'

The dynamic icon of the SEAT brand
The first generation of the Ibiza Cupra took to the streets in 1996, since when the dynamic Cupra lineage has developed to become an icon of the SEAT brand. The Ibiza Cupra Concept shows how the next chapter of this success story will be written - the state-of-the-art 1.4 TSI engine is not only powerful but is also muscular, producing a maximum torque of 250 Nm. For a race car-style driving experience, the seven-speed DSG transmission with its extremely short shift times can also be operated via paddles behind the steering wheel.

'Immediate and linear acceleration, with agile handling, good traction and responsive brakes are the key ingredients for what the Cupra name represents,' says Dr. Matthias Rabe, Vice President for Research and Development at SEAT S.A. 'The new Ibiza Cupra Concept is a perfect example of how we at SEAT are adapting the latest Volkswagen Group technology to create a unique and highly rewarding package.'

Expressive design with powerful lines

The sharp design communicates the spirit of the new Ibiza Cupra Concept from the very first glance - this compact hot hatch has a solid and powerful stance. The new face with its broad grille and bold air intakes emphasises the breadth, solidity and power of the Ibiza Cupra Concept. The sophisticated design of the headlamps shows the attention to detail in the work carried out at the SEAT Design Center. Typical of SEAT's design language are the highly defined outlines to the lamps, which at the same time are integrated perfectly into the Ibiza's sculptural form. The LED daytime running lights trace the line of the headlamps to deliver a unique light signature, as do the LED rear lights.

From a technical point of view, the bi-xenon headlamps provide enhanced illumination, while cornering lights are integrated into the large fog lamps.

In profile the three-door Ibiza SC bodyshape is brought to life by its sharply drawn lines and edges, while the muscular rear shoulders and 17-inch wheels underscore its dynamics. The exterior mirrors are painted gloss black - as is the Cupra tradition - and offer a clear contrast to the distinctive Crono Yellow paint finish of the Cupra Concept in Beijing. The powerful rear end underscores once more the special role of the Ibiza Cupra as the new benchmark among compact sports cars - the yellow of the broad bumper frames the substantial, matt-black, diffuser and the trapezoidal exhaust outlet.

Clear interior of the very best quality

The emotional power of the exterior design is also apparent from the interior of the Ibiza Cupra Concept and in the clean, minimalist and clearly structured cockpit. The exceptional feeling of quality and precision craftsmanship serves to underscore SEAT's incredibly high standards. The new sports steering wheel with the Cupra logo and the shift paddles for the DSG transmission, the dedicated instruments and the leather sports seats with their lateral flashes of yellow to match the Cupra exterior are all clear indications of the special role held by the top version of the Ibiza range.

The entertainment system in the Ibiza Cupra Concept is completely new - and the powerful audio set-up can be complemented by the innovative SEAT Portable System. The highly affordable solution with a 5-inch screen is removable for mobile use and yet perfectly integrated into the vehicle's electronics. Its many functions include a navigation system, hands-free phone system with voice control and an on-board computer. At a later point, the SEAT Portable System will be available as an option for the entire Ibiza family.

With the Ibiza Cupra Concept, driving enjoyment and cutting-edge engineering are guaranteed.

2012 Citroen Numero 9 concept

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsz-McBljCkynGlEVdNZJ2FXwt77-mI1EuK2kVp2GZ4PtrBjbOvt8merBqDPPUyHIqedW6OHZJoA5hHsOaP6-KmuHSPitekTdjCIzD16tSNsNVZsAPvMTlLAM-fAJiRvTNBQQDRdj5YPw/s1600/citroen-ds-numero-9-concept-2.jpg

Citroen has releases the Numero 9 Concept ,which will debut at the 2012 Beijing motor show

The Concept primarily previews a new D-Segment executive sedan that will presumably be known as the DS9 when it reaches production form. However, it also previews the styling elements of the another 2 vehicles that are to join the DS line-up which Citroen has confirmed will be a C-segment premium sedan and an SUV.

Citroen describes the Numero 9 as a "new take on the shooting brake body style," combining the proportions of a wagon with the style of a fastback five-door and the dimensions of a large executive car.

The Numero 9 sits on 21-inch wheels, with its glassy roof just 1.27m off the ground. The 4.9m length and wide-set headlight and grille treatment accentuate the car's ground-hugging stance, while the fastback rear profile and aerodynamically shaped pillars contribute to a low drag figure. Even those mammoth wheels are sculpted to scythe through the airstream with minimal fuss.

The plug-in hybrid setup offers a 30 mile EV only range, automatically chooses the power source and driven wheels according to conditions and driver demand, can manage 62mph in 5.4 seconds, the usual sill economy and emission figures (in this case 166mpg and 39g/km) and can even switch the ICE to standby when not needed.

The Numero 9 can also travel on electricity only for up to 50 kilometres, with the battery pack taking 3.5 hours to recharge from a regular powerpoint.

Press Release

  • Citroën’s DS line will launch in China during 2012
  • Numéro 9 concept to be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show to mark the DS line launch
  • Numéro 9 concept combines radical executive styling with luxury and comfort
  • Hybrid drivetrain delivers fuel economy of 166mpg (1.7l/100km) and CO2 emissions of just 39g/km
  • Concept signals styling cues of the next three models in the DS line

Marketed in parallel alongside Citroën’s main range, the distinctive DS line explores new automotive territory. Based on more radical choices, it opens new perspectives in premium vehicle design and illustrates the best of Citroën’s expertise in creativity and technology. Just two years after its launch, the DS line - comprising of Citroën DS3, DS4 and DS5 - has already notched up more than 200,000 sales worldwide, with 25,000 in the UK alone.

The DS line will be launched in China this year and, to mark the event, Citroën has designed a new concept car, Numéro 9, which will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. The concept signals the styling cues of the next three DS line models: a C-segment premium sedan, an SUV and a D-segment executive saloon.

A new take on the shooting brake body style, Numéro 9 has elegant, thoroughbred looks enhanced with further radical design elements. Solid, sculpted proportions and subtle lines convey a distinctive and sophisticated character. The sophistication is allied with a high-quality finish for a truly original driving sensation and features that are practical and versatile in everyday use.

The concept is designed with plug-in full-hybrid technology; an ultra-efficient system that boasts remarkable levels of performance - 166mpg fuel economy, 50km range in ZEV mode, 295hp, a ‘boost’ function and 39g/km of CO2.

Designed in Paris, Numéro 9 opens a new chapter in the styling of the DS line.

NUMÉRO 9 IN DETAIL: A FRESH TAKE ON FRENCH-STYLE LUXURY

Following on from Citroën DS3, DS4 and DS5, concept car Numéro 9 takes a fresh look at the DS line with a new take on the prestigious shooting brake design.

Subtly combining the proportions of a coupé with those of an estate, Numéro 9 hints at exceptional driving sensations, with its taut lines, long bonnet and ultra-low stance (1.27m tall) on 21-inch wheels. It also promises unique onboard comfort with its generous proportions (4.93m long and 1.94m wide, with a 3m wheelbase) providing plenty of room for rear occupants. The three glass areas in the roof also create a welcoming, friendly cabin ambience.

Numéro 9 evolves the design cues of the current DS line, introducing the new front-end identity of future models, along with an original light signature. The grille is sculpted in 3 dimensions and flows into the full-LED headlights, which end in daytime-running lights. Condensing the distinctive forms of the DS line, the concept also features a floating roof, underlined by chrome trim with discreet DS markings, and glazed side surfaces flowing into the rear window.

A sophisticated use of body colours and materials includes deep black bodywork with subtle hints of violet. The finish, named ‘Whisper’, is a perfect match for the warmer shade of the ‘Californian’ chrome finish.

The ‘Créative Technologie’ used by Numéro 9 combines comfort, safety and respect for the environment, while also delivering enjoyable driving sensations for all occupants.

Every detail was designed to contribute to Numéro 9’s aerodynamic efficiency (CdA = 0.61) including:

  • a rear spoiler, which reinforces the fastback effect
  • windscreen pillars that contribute to efficient air flow around the car
  • ‘Turbine’ wheels with integrated fins to increase the air flow around the wheel arches, reducing both turbulence and fuel consumption.

With its plug-in full-hybrid technology, concept car Numéro 9 is also a perfect fit with Citroën’s environmental commitments.

The advanced drivetrain combines a conventional petrol or diesel engine (depending on the market) with an electric motor on the rear axle that develops 70hp and torque of 200Nm. The electric motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged in just 3½ hours from a normal domestic socket. The model on display at the Beijing Motor Show is fitted with a 1.6 THP petrol engine developing 225hp (165kW) and 275Nm of torque.

With its plug-in hybrid technology, Numéro 9 respects the environment. It has a range of 50km (around 31miles) in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode and, on roads demanding successive acceleration and deceleration, the hybrid drivetrain limits consumption by using both sources of energy. On the motorway, the combustion engine takes over to deliver real performance.

Numéro 9 features new-generation micro-hybrid technology designed to switch the combustion engine to stand-by whenever it is not required.

When the driver requires speed and torque, a ‘boost’ function combines the power of the combustion engine and electric motor to enable high levels of performance (up to 295hp). Numéro 9 takes just 5.4 seconds to go from 0 to 62mph and 25.3 seconds to travel 1,000m from a standing start.

When grip is lacking, the car switches to four-wheel drive mode with the electric motor driving the rear wheels and the combustion engine powering the front wheels. In particularly difficult driving conditions, such as driving up a sloping, snow-covered road, the driver can manually select 4WD mode. The four-wheel drive system and hydraulic active suspension then deliver increased traction, making full use of the potential of Numéro 9 in complete safety.

Looking beyond on-road performance and environmental benefits, the full-hybrid plug-in technology offers a third advantage: the cabin can be prepared before the car is used. For example, it can be pre-heated to ensure the comfort of all the occupants as soon as they climb onboard.

Jeep Three Concept Vehicles

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnjtCaWAGbh63D74Qrb243CCgUkvLNFcWzdAK5XvHDlf4oJIFFR41wHIpz5yG5VR9QDVktxMNOMs24l_aRBfZldU6ILHPLN7_aPJTvSO-xqR_R-dXUm1Z6cHehPsMOtTANPkbee_O47aw/s1600/2012moabjeepconceptmoapr-01.jpg

Jeep has announced that it will show three concept vehicles at this year's Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, out of a total of six vehicles from Chrysler Group overall.

The first concept is the Jeep Wrangler Apache. The Wrangler concept features wider fenders, a bull bar with a Warn winch, and a stripe down the left side. Like the concepts Jeep brought last year, the Jeep Wrangler Apache concept will likely have more offroad accessories when it is finally revealed.

The next concept teaser shows the Jeep J-12, which has a front-end design and bed side silhouette reminiscent of 1962-1971 Jeep Gladiator. The Gladiator was a full-size Jeep truck available in rear- or four-wheel-drive forms. If this J-12 concept is a full-size pickup, it could be based on the Ram 1500 chassis and powered by a Hemi V-8 engine. Jeep truck fans at last year’s event were treated to the JK8 Independence concept, which was based on the Wrangler Unlimited. Jeep said it had no plans to put the JK8 into production, but those interested could purchase a JK8 conversion kit.

Another intriguing concept teased by Jeep is the Mighty FC concept that pays tribute to cab-over (also known as Forward Control) Jeeps of the past. While anything is possible, we’re hoping the Mighty FC concept is powered by a Cummins turbodiesel and built off a Ram Heavy Duty chassis.
